But here’s the great news—early detection, amplification, and specialized therapy focused on listening and spoken language can make all the difference! Our play-based, child-friendly approach focuses on collaborating with families and helping children with hearing loss learn to communicate confidently and effectively. 

Our Auditory Processing (AKA Central Auditory Processing) evaluations are thoughtfully designed to support your child’s auditory processing needs while making the journey as engaging + supportive as possible. We believe that every child is unique, which is why we start our AP evaluations by getting to know your child’s history, interests, and strengths. Before the evaluation begins, you’ll complete comprehensive pre-evaluation paperwork that allows us to tailor the experience to your child’s individual needs. This ensures that the entire process is personalized, making sure an AP evaluation is the right next step for your child.

• Day 1: Audiology Adventure: Your child’s evaluation kicks off with an exciting audiology adventure! In an stress-free environment, our expert audiologist will conduct a thorough hearing test to rule out any hearing loss. From there, we’ll explore how your child processes different sounds in a fun and engaging way. This portion of the evaluation takes place at Schramm Educational Center in Pekin. 

• Day 2: Language Fun: About a week later, your child will join one of our amazing speech-language pathologists for a session focused on language. Through interactive activities and games, we’ll assess how your child understands and uses language, making sure that the experience is enjoyable and stress-free. This part of the evaluation happens at Way to Grow Pediatric Therapy + Enrichment Center in Peoria Heights. 

• Teamwork and Collaboration: Following these evaluations, our audiologist + speech-language pathologist will collaborate to create comprehensive diagnostic reports that highlights your child’s strengths and areas for growth. Two weeks later, we’ll meet with your family virtually to discuss the results, celebrate your child’s progress, and plan the next steps to support their continued growth. 

Financial Flexibility:
 

We understand that financial planning is an important part of the process, and we’re here to help. A portion of the Auditory Processing evaluation can be billed to in-network BCBS and UHC Caterpillar insurance. There will also be an out-of-pocket portion, not billable to insurance. We’re happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to out-of-network insurances.  We also accept HSA/FSA payments. A good faith estimate will be provided to ensure you understand your out-of-pocket costs prior to the evaluations. 

Listening and Spoken Language services are a fun, engaging way for children with hearing loss to develop their listening + communication skills. Our specialized speech therapists use interactive, play-based strategies to help your child: 

• Hear and identify sounds – recognizing a variety of sounds in their environment. 

• Explore speech – practicing how to change pitch, loudness, and duration in their voice. 

• Understand and develop spoken language – growing the ability to participate in conversations, stories, and more! 

• Use communication strategies – learning ways to engage in conversations with confidence. 

• Gain self-advocacy skills – empowering children to learn about their own hearing loss and communicate their needs to others.
