Celebrating Kangaroo Care Day!! That Magical Skin to Skin Holding

What is kangaroo care?

Kangaroo care also called skin-to-skin contact, is holding baby chest-to-chest and skin-to-skin typically with mom or dad.

How many of you held your baby skin to skin when they were born?  Or perhaps it was a few hours or days later in the NICU? It is a sweet, gentle, incredible way to bond with your newborn.

But did you know this amazing, magical, calming, stress relieving, pain reducing, temperature regulating, bonding experience can be beneficial far beyond those early hours or days?

Skin to skin for the win…

Baby has a fever? Skin to skin.

Baby is extra fussy? Skin to skin.

Baby seems overstimulated? Skin to skin.

Mama is feeling extra emotional? Skin to skin.

Mama is feeling stressed? Skin to skin.

Milk supply is decreasing? Skin to skin.

Mama started back to work and needs to reconnect with her baby? Skin to skin.

Find the timing that is right for you and your babe and know there are benefits beyond the first newborn hours.

Kangaroo Care is supporting milestones, reflex expression and integration and all the wonderful things that help a baby’s brain grow with a loving connection and feeling of safety and attachment.

HAPPY KANGAROO CARE DAY!!
