We have GROWN: Dyslexia Evaluation + Treatment

We continue to find our Way to Grow in supporting children and families in our community!! We are excited to announce another way we serve through… DYSLEXIA EVALUATION + TREATMENT!

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability characterized by difficulty with reading as well as other language skills such as spelling and writing.

As we think about what it takes to read, it’s super complex! Yale Center for Dyslexia + Creativity shares the complexity required by our brains to read: our brain must connect letters to sounds, put those sounds in the right order, and pull the words together into sentences and paragraphs that we can read and comprehend!

Shoo! That’s a lot!

When a child has dyslexia, they struggle pairing the letters they see with the sounds those letters {or combinations of letters} make. This makes the process even more tiring!

This difficulty, however, has no connection to their overall intelligence. While children with dyslexia may be slow to read, they often are creative thinkers with strong reasoning abilities!

Although Dyslexia has lifelong implications— with early identification and support, each child can be just who they are meant to be!
